Welcome to the Grounds/History Page.

Evergreen was built in 1965 as Sacred Heart Nursing Home on 3.2 acres of land. The building is constructed completely of concrete, steel and brick. This type of construction provides for maximum fire safety and structural strength. The building is sectioned into compartments, seperated by fire walls and fire doors. During an actual emergency the residents can be moved from one part of the building to another providing maximum safety and comfort.

In 1975 additions were completed adding a resident wing, the Activities room, office space, a larger laundry area and more space to the kitchen area.

During this construction phase, many trees and shrubs were planted to enhance the apparence of the grounds. Over the years these trees and shrubs have matured allowing for a beautiful view from almost any window in the faciity. Most residents room windows look onto this, not just concrete and steel of another building next door.

In 2003 a small addition was built to expand for the Adult Day Services program. At that time the space for the program was renovated with all new walls, fire alarm systems, electrical, doors and ceilings.

This expansion houses a treatment room, conference room, and office space.

We have two courtyards for our residents to relax and enjoy the sunshine and activities.

This is our Activities courtyard and is directly off the Activities room. It has several mature trees that blossom in the spring with beautiful flowers and provides shade and serenity all summer.

Our main courtyard also boasts mature trees for ample shade and comfort. In addition we have wheelchair accessable raised flower beds that the residents can enjoy.

Here is our secluded walkway on the B-Wing unit. The residents enjoy the tranquillity and beauty of the trees and shrubs.

Here is our grounds from the A-Wing unit. There is ample shade from trees which also provide beauty and privacy.

The Crabapple trees bloom in spring with magnificent colors and fragrance.

The grounds also has Honeysuckle, Mock Orange and Spirea bushes that bloom in the spring producing a varity of colors.

There are also Locust, Soft Maple, Cherry, Crabapple, Cedar, Spruce, Mountain Ash and Pin Oak Trees.

As well as Mugo Pine, Pftizer, Spreading Yew and Upright Yew shrubs that surround the facility.
